Josh Glikin is the partner that manages the litigation team in the firm’s intellectual property department. He has experience litigating intellectual property matters in federal courts throughout the country, including patent, trademark and copyright infringement litigation, trade secret misappropriation, and software disputes. Mr. Glikin also has general litigation experience that includes breach of contract, employment and securities law claims. Mr. Glikin’s experience ranges from a high value, complex software dispute in Illinois to litigation in Utah federal court involving internet data theft. He also has served as lead counsel in patent infringement litigation involving a variety of electrical and mechanical devices, business methods and pharmaceutical patents (including ANDA litigation). His trademark and copyright litigation experience includes cases for a national fast food restaurant, an internet based crime tracking company, a sports apparel manufacturer, and the United States subsidiaries of the three South Korean broadcasting networks. Mr. Glikin also has experience handling complex software litigation and development disputes for companies that develop financial services software, security software and email messaging software. In his general commercial litigation practice, Mr. Glikin has successfully defended clients in matters ranging from securities fraud in federal court in Pennsylvania, a breach of contract action involving health care information, and employment discrimination and claims. He also serves as counsel for an U.S.-based, multi-national client in a fraud and kickback action brought in New York federal court by the new Iraqi regime. Mr. Glikin has presented to colleagues and business professionals on topics ranging from intellectual property protection and litigation, to electronic discovery and litigation document preservation obligations. He is a member of the Maryland Bar and Federal Bar Associations, and he is admitted to practice before the Maryland Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court of Maryland the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He was first in his graduating class at the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D., summa cum laude, 2001), where he served as a member of the Intellectual Property Law Journal. He obtained an undergraduate degree in Mass Communications from Frostburg University in 1994, where he graduated with a cumulative 4.0 G.P.A. Before joining Bowie & Jensen in 2003, Mr. Glikin was a litigation associate at Hogan & Hartson, LLP (now Hogan Lovells). For the six years between earning his bachelor’s degree and starting his legal practice, Mr. Glikin was a television news producer and writer for WJZ-TV, the CBS affiliate in Baltimore, where he spent several years producing the top rated morning newscast in the market. Mr. Glikin’s unique experience in news producing and writing has brought a fresh perspective to the art of persuasive legal writing that is clear, concise and effective. Mr. Glikin also is active in his community, serving as a two-term Vice President of the Greater Towson Council, President of his community association, and serves as the chairman of the Towson Triangle Committee, a position for which he was appointed by a Baltimore County Councilman. He also volunteers his legal services to help local community causes, including the successful effort to pressure the local school district to build a new elementary school to relieve overcrowding, and the effort to build a new community swim club that includes special services for physically-challenged children and the underprivileged.
