Robert Brouillette understands the needs of entrepreneurs, being an entrepreneurial lawyer himself.
A majority of his clients are business builders and operate technological enterprises. He has also developed a significant clientele in the field of direct selling.
He has become a leading Canadian expert in the fields of intellectual property, direct sales, technology law (The Best Lawyers in Canada) and startups and their financing.
By training, he is a lawyer, a civil engineer and a patent and trademark agent. He holds an engineering degree from University of Sherbrooke (1972) and a law degree from University of Laval (1975). He is a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers and of the Quebec Bar. He is an accredited trademark and patent agent in Canada and the US.
He began his career with Ogilvy Renault in 1977. He co-founded BCF in 1992. Mr. Brouillette more recently founded Brouillette & Partners a Law/Patent and Trademark agency firm focussing on Entrepreneurs and Innovators.
He is immediate past Chair and a member of the board of Anges Québec (an angel investor group) and has invested as an angel investor/mentor in over 40 start-ups.
His career makes him not only a seasoned lawyer, but also a man passionate about entrepreneurship and very accessible.
Mr. Brouillette is a former president of the executive of the national Intellectual Property Law section of the Canadian Bar Association. He is a member of different associations operating in the field of intellectual property and direct selling including the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, the Licensing Executive Society, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, INTA, DSA (Canada and USA) and Réseau Action TI.
He is currently a member of the board of directors of Anges Quebec Capital and of a number of companies including: Crowdco/GoTroo.com, Intelia, Mondias Naturals, Vert.com, Newtrax, Tekinno, E2Metrix, Algueria, Novidev and Eletratek. He is a former member of the board of directors of a number of companies including iWeb, Simsmart, Hydro-Quebec and of HQ Capitech and of HQ Industech.
In addition to being involved with Anges Québec, Robert Brouillette is also very active in the community of young entrepreneurs, to whom he regularly offers mentorship.
